Central to Google's awful policy on authenticity is the insistence on using a “recognizable head shot” for a profile photo. Given my recent trashing of the author ranking system, I thought I’d have a play with this to see how well their "sophisticated facial recognition software" works. Since every single photo I tried to upload was deemed not a face, I decided to have a little fun with some other faces and apparently they’re also not recognizable:

The General in Google’s war on spam and it’s policy of when in doubt, wipe it out thanks to which countless businesses have been ruined, many of which never tried to game the system or were simply victims of bad SEO advice (if that isn't a tautology).
